My name is Reilly McMonigal, I studied fashion design at the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota, and spent a year abroad at Parson's Paris. My work balances traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. Attending an art school for my college education had given me a diverse multidisciplinary background, and encouraged me to constantly challenge myself to create things that have a more conceptual and innovative nature. My work relies heavily on experimentation with surface treatments and fabric manipulation in order to transform interesting textures and patterns onto the fabric, which have included digital printing, pleating, shibori dying, and felting.
