Khalilah Frederick is a premiere makeup artist, in Fayetteville, NC, who provides stunning makeup services for brides, professionals and celebrities alike.
Long before Khalilah realized her purpose in makeup, she was an energetic party girl with dreams of launching a career in interior design. But after taking a few courses at a private online college, the Fayetteville, N.C. native realized that interior design was not for her. She tried her hand at different jobs, from being a legal secretary to a fast-food server. However, the color theory lessons she learned from her college courses stuck with her. That knowledge came in handy when she began to dabble in makeup application. She tried a few looks on herself but was soon making up her friends for social events.
By 2011, she was given the opportunity to work as an executive fashion assistant at the Jessica De Vault Agency. At this company, she honed her makeup skills, improved her ability to interact effectively with others, and learned more about the business of beauty. This is when she realized that her calling was to become a makeup artist.
Her opportunity with the agency later led to a freelance makeup artist position at MAC. It was God’s favor and Khalilah’s creative skill and charm that landed her the position. The internationally known cosmetics brand helped Khalilah polish her craft, and she was able to gain certification for herself, in several industry niches including bridal, photography, retro and high fashion techniques.
Her next big break came when she received a call from the Jessica De Vault Agency in 2013. The company needed a makeup artist for a music video with Grammy-nominated rapper J. Cole and singer Miguel. The opportunity opened new doors for her and has added to her local notoriety.
These days, Khalilah remains busy providing makeup services for weddings, events, local magazines and fashion shows.
