With an innate desire to create, Northern California native Sara Basaldua, headed for Los Angeles in 2003 to attend Brooks College for fashion design. Sara's love for creating clothing started as a young child at the age of 10 years old when she made her first outfit for 4-H. Sara attended Brooks College for 3 years and ended up dropping out of school to work full-time in the fashion industry. She used her experience interning for a sales rep to land her a job with a new sportswear line called Yakuza. She worked as a administrative assistant for the designer at the showroom in the California Mart for 1 year. Even though this was a great opportunity she wanted to learn more and experience a new atmosphere outside of California. She learned that Dallas had a upcoming fashion industry so she packed up her car and drove to Dallas. While working on a movie set as a stylist assistant she befriended the lead makeup artist. Sara then started assisting with makeup and hair for photo shoots. In febuary of 2008, Sara was assisting at a photo shoot for a local designer called August Alexander. August Alexander is high fashion men's and women's line that is victorian inspired. Sara started interning for the company and two months later Sara started working as the designer assistant for August Alexander. While working for August Alexander, Sara was able to learn a lot about the industry. She learned operations, production, design and marketing a collection. She experienced Fresh Faces of fashion in Miami, coordinating trunk shows and also helped with producing 3 major fashion shows. She continued to work for them for 3 years until the company moved to New York. Sara decided to go back to school and finish her degree at El Centro Community College. With 10 years of experience in the fashion industry and her degree Sara will be launching her line called SaJe in spring 2013.
