About Me

Have a Bachelors of Arts in Fine Art Photography from the University of Redlands. I was adjunct faculty to the University of Redlands Art Department with a decade of teaching experience. While there I taught Photography and Computer Graphics. I've been shooting for 20 years and made the leap to digital more than a decade ago.

I've been using Photoshop since 1990 when it was just a baby: Photoshop 1.0. I still remember how excited I was when Adobe introduced a feature called "Layers" in Photoshop 3.0; That was probably the best feature since it's release. I try very hard to create a natural look even though all of my photos are manipulated.

I'm interested in the way light interacts with the human form and how I can enhance that form with light.

I'm interested in the story that each person brings to the lens. Sometimes even the most pedestrian photo shoots can uncover a mystery and transcend the medium or the location or even the participants.

My goal for each photograph is to elicit a response from the viewer, to bring the photo to life, or as Roland Barthes wrote in Camera Lucida: "…I realized that some [photos] provoked tiny jubilations…" You know you've found 'it' when the photo jumps off the lightbox.

I love the studio and I like the adventures I get into when I'm shooting on location.
