James Allen Jr born in Jamaica Queens NY, raised in the Bronx Ny as well as Silver Spring Md, Iam a single full time dad of 2 boys James the third and Cam’Ron Allen. I am currently working at state farm as a claims processor and no I don’t wear khakis lol .

Im also currently training as a physique competitor, but the difference from me compared to the rest is that I have a disease called Sickle Cell Thalassemia, which is a combination of mutated red blood cells and hemoglobin. I discovered I had this disease while in basic training for the United States Marine Corps 2 weeks before grad day, and with this disease I was still top 5 in pt scores in my platoon. I was sent home and I had to manage how to adjust knowing about this disease, I was informed that I would never be able to play sports or work out again was basically told wait for my time to be called up.

The birth of my first son is what motivated me to try anyhow, I registered for college and walked on the fall baseball team I was in the gym 5-6 days a week. It was my first major accomplishment in doing something physical since the Marines, but this disease always reminded me it was around, I would have mini attacks which are painful in the joints and muscles. There were 2 separate occasions when it almost killed me one in particular I was hospitalized for months with a combination of Sickle Cell crisis and Pneumonia, I arrived at hospital oxygen level 30 percent and no nutrients in my body and first time ever had to get a blood fusion.

Once I was healthy enough I got back into the gym to regain strength and weight. I always have been a gym rat the gym ahs always been my escape from the adversity of life and trials, I’m currently training in the NPC physique competitor being in shape and proper eating has helped with my condition being that I must stay hydrated and have to watch sugar.

I still have episodes for instance I had a sickle cell attack right before my first show I still showed up and fought through it, I took 8-16 at the Shawn Ray Classic, even though I wanted to place higher being what I had to overcome pain wise I was proud of myself.
