My name is Petra Herrick, and I am a primarily self-taught photographer. During my first few years at college I majored in fine art photography and graphic design but decided to change majors in my junior year. Although I do not have a formal degree in photography, I do have over 10 years of experience including two years of vocational training and experience with 2 local portrait studios. Great photographers are in a constant state of learning, expanding on their talent and knowledge. Likewise, I strive to stay on top of current trends and new technology in photography and in my spare time I enjoy reading on and taking classes to further build my skills.

I decided to join Model Mayhem as a way to improve my abilities, meet new people who share my passion, connect with local models and possibly find a photography mentor.

I currently work with families and couples, but would love to branch out and do more editorial style photography, work with local artists and shoot for events. I also would like to focus on building my personal portfolio of fine art photography, in the hopes to display my work and/or sell my pieces.
