Nicole O’Gorman is a dynamic young up-and-coming stylist who is rapidly taking the hairdressing world by storm.
Based in the popular town of Adare in County Limerick, Nicole is the Salon Manager at the upmarket Revas Spa and her reputation is quickly growing as one of the most innovative and creative artists in the field. Her work has recently been showcased in the Good Salon Guide and her reputation as a creator of niche and expressive styles was noticed by the high-profile Irish Milliner Aisling Maher who used Nicole exclusively for the creation of her current portfolio shots.
Nicole’s extensive skills have also been recognised by L’Oreal who have appointed her as a craft educator within their Martix Division, a role that allows her to travel the globe delivering exclusive training to senior stylists worldwide. The position sees her working regularly with celebrity hair stylists on various tours, shows and live events.
In a savvy business move, in 2012 Nicole also launched her own business running bespoke Upstyling Courses – Nicole O’Gorman Hair Education - and these classes are already booked out six months in advance due to high demand. Since the business was formed, Salons nationwide have commissioned Nicole to train their teams exclusively in the niche art of upstyling for their employees.
Some of Nicole’s breathtaking work has featured on national advertising campaigns for industry press, as well as within designer collections. As her cult following grows, Nicole’s profile is rising to a level of international recognition. She recently worked as a guest stylist backstage on the popular Gok Wan show, ‘Stripping for Summer’ as a part of the elite Jamie Cook team of stylists.
Nicole’s attitude to her work is surprisingly humble. ‘I just love what I do’, she says. ‘Having all of these facets in my day-to-day work gives me the opportunity to be diverse in my approach to the craft, and I continually educate myself on the newest trends. I think that keeping at the top of your game is the only way to ensure longevity and I just love coming up with new and innovative ways to express myself. The Hair Education brand is a fantastic avenue for someone with very little training to learn more about Upstyling and I am keen to expand this on a bigger scale.’
