About Me

Born in Santa Monica, Ryan is a native to Topanga Canyon and Malibu.

As a young man he attended Malibu Park Junior High School, where he developed a fond interest in Basketball, Volleyball, Academics, and Dungeons and Dragons. Between junior high and high school, he studied abroad for one year in Japan. Upon his return he attended Santa Monica High School, and although encouraged by his drama teacher, Dr. Ford, to try his hand at acting, Ryan remained firmly committed to academics as well as sports.

He was recruited by Stanford University for his blend of academic achievement and volleyball, being one of the top ten players in the country in his senior year in high school. At Stanford, he played on the Men's volleyball team, going to the NCAA finals two of his four years of playing. Between his sophomore and junior years at Stanford, he took an athletic red shirt year and attended the Stanford Kyoto Center for Japanese Studies, while at the same time training with the professional volleyball team, Suntory. He received two degrees from Stanford, one in Economics, the other in East Asian Studies, with a focus on Japanese Culture. After college, he briefly trained with the U.S. Men's National Volleyball team.

Despite the suggestion by his father to go and work on Wall Street, he began his career in computer gaming, working at companies such as Activision and Disney before moving on to start his own art publishing company with long time friend and world renowned artist, Michael Bedard.

A few years later he identified film editorial/post production as an area of interest and went back to school for a year to learn his craft at Video Symphony. His "big break" in editorial was when he was asked, soon after completing his editorial education, to help Assistant Visual Effects Edit with his colleague, Derrick Mitchell on "Beverly Hills Chihuahua", and Editor, Sabrina Plisco, A.C.E. What followed has been a career based on visual effects editorial which he greatly enjoys. His latest efforts are directed towards screen writing.

As far as his goals for MM, Ryan is here to find potential cast for his (completed) screenplay prior to going into preproduction. He would like to place a real face and personality with each of his leads and supporting cast.

Personal note: If I reach out to you to "Friend" that means I've identified you as someone I believe would be a possible "fit" for one of the roles in my screenplay. Feel free to inquire further and I can send you more information. It's still preliminary. - RM
