So you're on an epic journey toward a mountain where you need to destroy a ring. After two hours of boredom, do you walk out of the cinema? This is a question I've asked myself on two separate occasions, and the second occasion it lead to other questions such as "again? really!?". My short attention span has greatly influenced my photographic work. I take the position that the viewer is intelligent, they're able to think for themselves, and make up their own minds as to what an image represents. As such, not everything needs to be said, some things are better left unsaid. Visual aesthetics and story telling are not made better by drawing them out over an extended period of time. As French writer Antoine de Saint Exupéry once put, perfection is achieved when there is nothing left to take away.
