My name is Alexa Michelle, I am an Afro-Latina model born and raised in the Bronx. My parents are from Honduras and as a child I traveled every year to Honduras. Each year I learned more about my culture which is of great influence in my career as a model. Being the first to be crowned Miss Garifuna 2008 in the National Central American Day Parade in New York, opened many doors for me that I never would of thought in a million years would happen.While in school I always thought of becoming a nurse just like my mom but something inside of me didn't allow me to focus on that and after I graduated High school I realized that my God given talent was to pursue my career in modeling. Growing up I would look at magazines and runway shows that only showed a certain face, figure or skin complextion that didn't quite look like mine.This only inspired me to work even harder in achieving my dreams of becoming the first Garifuna American model in the world of fashion.
