About Me

Born and raised in New York City, Paul Brickman took an interest in visual and photographic arts from a very young age. Through his formative years, Brickman began his career in the Arts in music and theater, which would expand into a strong interest of the fabulous urban landscape that surrounded him. Early on, he developed a strong preference toward shooting individuals and candid street scenes of New York life, which were prevalent and familiar in his every day life.
After attending LaGuardia High School of Music, Art, & Performing Arts (known to all as what inspired the motion picture & television series: FAME), as well as the General Studies Program at The School of the International Center of Photography, Paul Brickman began his photographic career with a passion for fashion in all shapes and forms including street, contemporary, and haute couture. The artist built his portfolio from the ground up, working first as a Photographer’s Assistant for various artists who specialize in Commercial and Editorial Fashion imagery. He went on to gain more experience Producing and Casting other projects, during which he collaborated on various projects for other well know Photographers, Stylists, Models, and Brands.
While beginning his own compendium of work, Brickman actively pursued his artistic interests in using young unique figures whom he had grown up with as subjects in his photographs. He actively sought out emerging talent and developed an inspirational body of work that explored the beauty and originality of artists (like himself) following a dream in New York City. Debueting his first complete Documentary Short: SHARON NEEDLES: PARENTAL GUIDANCE SUGGESTED on Hunger TV, Paul began to gain noteriety on his talents and focus on the particular topiic of Drag Icons and NYC nightlife. His recent exhibition in June, 2013: Paul Brickman’s Drag by Definition received immense praise focusing on the various styles of Drag culture based in the NYC area. Prior to that; Brickman made his solo debut at Montpellier’s A La Barak Photo
Gallery for his show: Paul Brickman’s Like a Lamb to the Slaughter. Brickman continues to with a vast diversity of young artists from all generes of art, fashion, and music. He manages to not only capture the essence of each of his subjects, but also make each focus stunning in his or her own right.
