About Me

My enjoyment comes from following up and following through on meeting the needs of each client I have. I listen for the client's agenda and confirm back to them what they are asking for so I can best serve them. My goal is for each client to leave empowered knowing they can trust me to follow through on what they expect me to do for them.

Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. Brow shaping and waxing, full face waxing, facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion and using essential oils for massaging during facials.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. What services do they provide? How much experience do they have in this field? What products do they use? What ingredients are in their products? What are their credentials? Read the reviews.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Wash your face in the morning and at night time. Don’t go to bed with your makeup on or dust mites will eat the mascara….I’ve always heard this one. Drink plenty of water because it’s great for anti aging. Not one skin care company is for everyone and people do have oily skin in Colorado.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Listening to what the client really wants is key to a happy client. I ask questions, listen and confirm back to the client what I heard them say. Listening is a skill not something you’re born with.

Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Watching the transformation come alive right in front of me and seeing the client experience a rise in confidence due to her natural beauty. I’m just enhancing what she already has.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What’s your answer?
A. How long have you been doing makeup and what made you decide to do this? I’ve been working in makeup since 2006 and dabbling in it since I was 6 years old. I had many facial surgeries before 20 and when I looked in the mirror I saw a pretty smile and it was mine. It transformed my life forever and I knew I wanted to relive that over and over and show others they too can have that same transformation through good skin care and makeup. Beauty begins from within and beautiful skin starts with good skin care.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. A client brought her son to me one time saying he used her chemical peel and she thought he was using her masque. He forgot about it and left it on overnight. His skin was peeling of in chunks and I told him, “absolutely, I can help you”. I gave him a galvanic facial and used calming ingredients on his face and when he was done, he looked normal again. I will never forget that.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. We work hand in hand with dermatologists and every doctor should have an Esthetician on staff. We know a lot about skin care and usually save a lot of people money and time as well as frustration over medications for skin prescribed by a doctor. When all they needed was to come to a knowledgeable and professional skin care expert, an Esthetician.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. My own personal story is the reason. Being from Dallas TX, there were skin care and makeup consultants on every corner, my mom being one and I was one more than once. I knew I wanted more in skin care than working for someone else and going into debt just so I would have product. My passion for the beauty industry was deep and I wanted more one on one educating my clients without reading a script. That wasn’t me, it felt so insincere. I wanted to build my own clientele without the rah rah. Some of you know what I’m talking about. Honestly, I didn’t get my first brow wax until I was 40 and I was hooked. This is the industry for me. Another transforming moment for me. I wanted to share with others and to this day, eye brow shaping is my favorite.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. It’s all about the eyes. A young, shy teenage girl who hides underneath her unibrow comes alive when she finds she has two separate and beautifully shaped eyebrows. It wasn’t about me, it was about her seeing her ‘prettiness’ for the first time. That was a transformation for her.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. I read a lot and will be attending spa conferences as they come around. Plus, I go into Ulta and Sephora to shop so I know what the latest trends are. I am also involved in Dick Smith’s Basic Special Effects course. His makeup work includes being the head makeup artist in movies such as The Godfather and The Exorcists. After I do the basic course I will venture into his advanced course.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. Because the boomer generation is aging, anything that lifts is a great seller right now. Beauty machines that lift, hide, and promote youthfulness is ‘in’. Technology is changing at such a rapid pace but the things that have been around for awhile are still popular like the microdermabrasion.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. My project right now is special effects makeup in a drama production. I’m one of many makeup artists involved in a touring production of The Thorn. I’m not touring in this since I have a local job so I’m working in the production here locally.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. Go to a good beauty school where you can not only learn makeup but hair too. Many companies like a cosmetologist that can do everything. Especially in film and theater.

Q. What is your greatest strength?
A. I’m very detailed and I ask good questions.

Q. What are you currently working on improving?
A. It’s always smart to practice listening. Many consumers walk away from some saying they just didn’t listen to me. I don’t want that, this is why I ask questions and will confirm to them what I’m hearing them say. This way there is no confusion or misunderstanding.
