Meet Elizabeth Ruiz-Delgado: Inspiring Plus Size, Print, Runway and Alternative Model.

I am a daughter, sister, aunt and loving friend. I'm currently in college pursuing my Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology. I want to be part of a surgical team in order to enhance and save lives. I am passionate about anything that has to do with the creative arts. Also, from time-to-time, I donate funds or volunteer for Juvenile Diabetes, AIDS, Breast Cancer, Scleroderma, and Autism Society Foundations. There are people who are near and dear to me that have been affected some way by these illnesses or disabilities. Another community that is close to my heart is working with people with developmental disabilities. For 6 years, I provided care to adults and children with developmental disabilities. Working with them showed me that our differences is what makes us all beautiful.
At the age of 16, I joined a theater program called the "CAT Youth Theatre". C.A.T. is short for Creative Arts Team. I was able to release the many frustrations I had going on in my life at that time. I had always been the "smart girl with the pretty face." I was constantly told, "If you lost some weight, you would be beautiful." The turning point for me was when I acted in a show for C.A.T., titled "The Seven Deadly Sins." In one of the scenes, for the sin "gluttony", I played a young girl who developed the eating disorder bulimia. In order to play this role, I studied the illness and realized and understood why and how someone can develop this illness. From there on, though it was a struggle, I tried to learn to accept my beautiful curves and to love myself no matter what.
At the age of 19, I decided to start modeling as a full-figured model. I wanted to show people that I embraced the body that was given to me. Within those years, I have done print work for free-lance photographers, have continued to do some theater work, in and behind the scenes, participated in Full Figured Fashion Week™ 2011 - New York City as a runway contestant in their 2011 "Full Figured and Fabulous Runway Competition." I also recently auditioned for FFF Week and Lane Bryant to be a runway model for this years FFF Week. Even though I was not chosen, I will not give up on my dream. In January 2013, I was officially welcomed and became a House Model for Ktwalk Katerers. Also in 2013, I was a competitor in the "Face of Kurvacious Boutique Modeling Competition". Now, I am a Model for Plus Size Diva Magazine and could not be more proud to be involved with this project.
Life is beginning to look up and all these years of hard work and struggle is finally paying off. I'm doing it all for my loved ones. I'm so passionate about modeling because I want to be a role model for all the little girls and women out there with "just a pretty face." WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL, regardless of our age, ethnicity, size, and shape. I want to break all stereotypes and bring an edgier look to the modeling world. I want to be more than just another "pretty face", I'm going to make it in this industry, and I'm going in as a GLAMAZON! ♥
