About Me

(Formerly "maingate")My initial goal is to built a portfolio upon which I can effectively market my work and worth. Breaking into portrait, glamor, fashion etc photography is somewhat of a Catch 22. You need a strong portfolio, but to get anyone to pose for you to built you portfolio requires a strong portfolio which is my initial Model Mayhem goal. Ultimately my goal is to built a creative team around me and reach the level of talent demonstrated by photographers like Lindsay Adler, Sue Bryce, Lara Jade to name a few and to mastering post processing to the level of people like Scott Kelby, Matt Kloskowski, Dave Cross, Jack Davis etc
I have extensive experience with 35mm film, both in shooting and darkroom work, but that dates back to my college years when I was a staff photographer for both the college's newspaper and yearbook. With the yearbook I was darkroom chief in my junior year and did a fair amount of experimenting (black & white) with special effects like solarization. My senior year I was the photo editor and one of my photos that I solarized was selected for the title page. My kit consisted of a Petri SLR with a 50mm f2.0 and a Honeywell strobe. Most of the photos were candids of student life and Formula One racing at Watkins Glen, NY.
I continued my photography during my seven years in the USAF and when I was stationed in Taipei, Taiwan I up graded my kit to a Canon F1, Canon FTB and a variety of lenses. Street and travel photography were the two main areas upon which I focused. Unfortunately upon my return to the states, my kit was stolen and financially I was not able to replace it until recently. I am looking to Model Mayhem as a prime source of networking with others who have the same needs as I do.
