I was featured as a model of the month a few years ago on Model Mayhem's social media. Here is the interview they published.

Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?

I’m a west coast baby and now an official island girl.  I was born in Southern Oregon in a small town called Klamath Falls which sits on the shores of an incredible high alpine lake with blue algae used for medicine.  We moved around a lot when I was growing up so I spent time living in, Portland, OR,  southern California, south-western Montana & the Pacific Northwest on a little island called Vashon, WA near Seattle. 
I am based out of the north shore of Kauai, HI currently with frequent trips to Los Angeles and NYC and am available to travel for international bookings.

Who or what inspired you to become a model?

As a child I was very fascinated with everything theatrical.  Dance, music, film, fashion & musical theater.  I noticed modeling was one of the ways many talented artists expressed and portrayed their creativity to the world.  I love the way an editorial or portrait captures someone's essence and gives viewers a glimpse into their evocative world.

How and when did you start modeling?

My first modeling gig was when I was 12 for an office supply store in my hometown for a back to school ad in the newspaper.  When I was 15 I moved to a very artistic island and began to pose nude for drawing, sculpture and painting groups in studios around the island.  I would make music mixes and get into a very meditative place holding poses for a long time.  When I was 18, I got a job at the Art Institute of Seattle posing nude for very large art classes.  It was a great experience because I became extremely confident posing naked posing for hundreds of my peers. 

What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?

I’m a very aquatic person so I love posing in and underwater the most.  I also love traveling internationally and posing nude in rugged nature settings for interesting local artists.  Body-scapes in a professional studio are really fun for me as well as posing with animals.

What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?

I look at their references as well as their portfolio to see if it reflects a certain aesthetic that speaks to my soul.  I also prefer to work with photographers who are submitting their work for publication. 

Which models or other artists currently inspire you?

Some photographers I adore are, Alexandra Bochkareva, Howard Schatz, Rusland Lobanov and Imogen Cunningham.  Some of my favorite models on model mayhem are #565522 Anastasia Arteyeva,  #23637 Anne Model,  #1145015 Gwen Nymph and # 2639401 Urtreen.

What would be your dream shoot?

Posing in the desert in Africa somewhere with rescued wild cats and animals modeling elegant dresses for a famous designer to be published in their international campaign.

How important is social media in your success?

It’s becoming incredibly relevant.  Instagram is a great way to network and has been getting me more and more work.

What else do you like to do outside of modeling?

I am a performance artist and I see modeling as a crucial element of my work.  I am a musician, dj, actor, dancer, sailor and a published writer.  I am passionate about helping co-create a better world for everyone to enjoy and thrive in.

What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?

Self love is the highest form of love there is.  Visualize success and expect it to happen.  Loving yourself and expecting success creates a confidence that shines through in every photo.  Negotiate rates and payment ahead of a shoot, be on time and don’t be flakey, stay organised and if you get a bad feeling about a potential photographer always trust your instinct. You got this!
