About Me

I'm a commercial and fine art photographer, image editor and graphic artist. I started shooting as a child in the 1970's with a Polaroid Big Shot. I immersed myself in imaging and printing for several years to learn the techniques of printing and presenting images in CMYK mode as well as RGB. During this time I was taught by an Austrian master on the darkroom camera and leaned the importance of focusing with a loop on frosted glass, using enlargement and proofing equipment and developing then manipulating one's own film.

After some years of that, while living in NYC I assisted some very successful fine art and commercial photographers that taught me a great deal about subject matter, presentation and promotion.

As far as my main 'focus' these days goes, I light, shoot, edit and deliver photos of food, fashion and folly. I shoot Nikon and prefer natural light and/or a simple strobist approach in the field and in the studio. I enjoy working with stylists, hair and makeup people as well as lighting and prop assistants. The more the merrier!

I love photography and the idea of imagery. Capturing the passage of light to shadow on an interesting subject is one of the most wonderful preoccupations I can think of.

Credit Notes

I've been at this for decades so my credits list is long. My work is published in books, magazines, newspapers, album covers and the web. It's found on posters, postcards and product packaging in stores around the world. Commercial subjects I shoot are usually food, fashion, glamour and performance while my fine art focus is more wide angle bucolic. My fine art hangs in galleries and in private collections.
