I've been shooting portraits, glamor, and fashion for twenty- five years. I was a semi-professional in the 80's, but then children happened, and they had to be sent through college. So the day job took over. Photography is now strictly a hobby for me and I would not want it any other way. Last few years I've been shooting nature/landscapes in Hawai'i and the Sierras, but have returned to photographing people, because that's what I'm good at.
I am interested in models starting out- or veterans wanting to broaden their portfolios. I have a cramped studio (but a huge darkroom) in my home just yards south of San Francisco, but rent space when needed. I am interested in your fresh ideas-at this point I feel like I may have run out of them, and even my newer work feels dated. This may be because I prefer shooting period portraits and pinups- 1850s through the 50's. I still use film on occasion, but its increasingly difficult to obtain in professional sizes, so the subject has to demonstrate an appreciation for that medium before I break into my secret stash.
Oh- I'm fun. This is art for me. I make my money elsewhere. Bring your own music unless you favor bluegrass, Hawaiian or jazz. Must also tolerate studio dog "helping" on set. I'm pretty good at what I do--the models who posed for me 25 years ago are now sending their daughters for head shots. I do compensate models as required/appropriate, but as stated my work has, by choice, no commercial potential (at least on my end) and I prefer shooting TFP. I'm either a starving artist or a cheap bastard, but I can also be your studio slave.
