My name is Mike Thompson and I love photography. I moved to Nanaimo in 1993 and started a marketing, design, web development and print company named Impact Visual Communications Ltd - now known as Impact Studio. As I approach retirement, and have found myself with free time and I have re-ignited my love for photography. I spend many hours every day roaming around Nanaimo and Vancouver Island photographing the beauty that surrounds us. We truly live in paradise.

I always believed that landscape photography was my only photographic passion until I took portrait work seriously. It has opened up a whole new area for me and I’m glad that it did. I have done a great deal of photography for customers who needed new shots for business cards, websites and other promotional needs. After having worked with a few people who take modelling seriously it has, once again, opened up new opportunities and passions.

I have solid people skills, enjoy working with models, believe in sharing with and respecting the models. My photography and processing skills have been honed over decades.

I look forward to meeting models through Model Mayhem - comparing notes and discovering new techniques from other photographers and just enjoying the community.
