About Me

'SHADOWLAND'...

No fear of 'The Dark' here...  It is as important as the light (if not more)...!  Without one... there is not the other.  Shadow does not hide... The Shadow exposes the light...!
Looking to work with models who feel they have something unique about themselves... mentally, emotionally, physically or otherwise...!!!  If you are wanting and passionate about creating art...  we will be able to do so with fun and vigor...  and...  if you are not shy and totally willing to go beyond the ordinary... don't hesitate... contact me...

Look at my work before you say... YESSS...

I consider myself an amateur... so I can keep learning...  ;-)
Hope you enjoy what I have to offer... If not, ohhh well... I do not apologize for my art...!

I have been a ‘Chiaroscurist’ since the early 1980’s...  :-)

DANIEL SIKORSKYI

... is a Canadian born photographer with an international sensibility. His superb portfolio of images of people around the world – Canada, the United States, Mexico, Germany, Italy, England, Ukraine, Japan and Azerbaijan – reveals an eye sensitively attuned to individuals in the context of their cultures.

As well, Sikorskyi’s sophisticated, elegant erotic photography presents a unique vision of sexuality and physicality, recalling classic photographers of an earlier era, with a sharp contemporary twist.
Daniel Sikorskyi has won a number of prestigious graphic design, magazine and exhibition awards, plus a special award from Nikon Photo Inc, in their glamour category. His photos have been published in many magazines and books and have been exhibited in galleries in Canada, Germany, USA and Azerbaijan, and held in private collections around the world.

The Photographer as “Chiaroscurist”

As a photographer, Sikorskyi describes himself as a “chiaroscurist.” It can be described as the effect resulting from the interplay of light and shadow, which create a mysterious depth, a sense of being veiled or partly obscured.
Sikorskyi prefers to show in black and white, generally, because it lends itself most effectively to the chiaroscuro effect. His best photos often leave much to the imagination in the veiled or shadowed aspect of the images.

Eastern Europe … a creative homeland of sorts

Sikorskyi’s ties to eastern Europe run deep. His parents emigrated to Canada from Ukraine in 1951, settling near Toronto. “They had it rough,” he says, “arriving with nothing but a couple of suitcases. Everyone else in the family stayed behind; I always had a passionate desire to visit them.” Finally, in July 2004, Sikorskyi traveled to Ukraine for a visit that included all he could have hoped for – and a lot more. He visited with several relatives who were “incredibly welcoming; it was like I was a long-lost son or brother.”
Then, after the bitterly contested November ’04 presidential election in Ukraine, the so-called “Orange Revolution” took place, spearheaded by PORA, the student-led group. From his base in Kyiv, Sikorskyi took thousands of photographs during the uprising, and was invited to join PORA as its official photographer. “I was so lucky,” he says. “It was an incredible adventure, and inspiring to be there when the Ukrainians woke up.”
