I was born in Sicily, an island of high contrasts. A place where everything looks, smells, tastes and feels more intense and real than anywhere else I have ever been.

I used a camera for the first time at the age of 12, messing around with my father’s digital compact camera. I clearly had a thing for abstraction, depicting things not for what they looked like but rather for the way I experienced them - with all my senses. Images that would prompt comments such as ‘Great, but what is it exactly?’. It was the corner of a window, the shadows of a fence, it was a flare, a composition of objects from my desk - it did not really matter.

Besides the abstract aspect, I developed a taste for anything that conveyed the idea of industrial. I would then embark into my first urban exploration adventures - mostly wondering inside and around abandoned buildings.

I took a 4/5 years break from photography when I went to university. Still not sure why.

After I moved to Brussels, where I currently live, I focused more on the human element, gaining a specific interest for the physical features of people living in and walking the streets of this eccentric, nonsensical city.

My photographic style is the - far from being mature - fruit of the different artistic stages I have been through. I am now into several bodies of work that celebrate nature, women, light and its volumes.
