I took up painting and drawing a couple of years ago, and am pretty much self taught. I've done some evening classes, and a couple of residential short courses, but have no real art education background. My preferred subject is to paint people: after all, we are all unique and terribly interesting. I usually do portraits, but also have tackled figure studies. In terms of media, I use gouache more than any other. I feel inspired by pop art, particularly Roy Liechtenstein, and early Italian Renaissance masters such as Botticelli, and find that the bold colours I can achieve with gouache are perfect for the sorts of images I want to achieve (but don't always manage to...)
