Elias Williams is a documentary and portrait photographer whose work focuses on everyday life and adding value to depreciated communities and cultures within people of color. Mr. Williams first became interested in photography through basketball. As a result, he spent the last couple of years in high school photographing the boys and girls basketball games. He went on to study photography at LaGuardia CC, which changed his perspective and field of interest in photography. Elias moved on from sports photography, venturing into still life, portraiture, documentary and street photography. Mr. Williams later graduated with honors from LaGuardia CC, earning an A.A.S degree in Photography. Over time, he decided to focus his work on environmental portraiture and documentary photography, focusing on long-term projects in these areas. His work has been showcased and published in the LaGuardia Gallery of Photographic Arts, Morris Museum, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, International Photo Festival Leiden, Buzzfeed and The New York Times. Beyond photographing, Elias is a member of the Bronx Photo League, a photo instructor for A Better Jamaica and a printer for the Bronx Documentary Center.
