My name is Steve Shackelford , and, … other than living in Georgia, Kansas, Dayton, Ohio & Newark, Ohio... 98% has been living in good ol Zanesville, Ohio. I have 2 grown boys, and my wife's name is Thea. I just turned 62 (ouch) and am preparing to retire from the Zanesville City Schools soon. Of all things, I ended up a school bus driver & a classroom aide for the past 25 years. I always enjoyed (& was pretty good at Painting & drawing) and when I was younger, I worked in different commercial printing companies around here and Georgia too. They never paid much, not to mention the benefits were seriously lacking. Zanesville City Schools had much better benefits, pay & never a dull moment. I became fascinated with photographs when my Dad showed me the difference between a snap shot and a time exposure on his 1950s Brownie Camera, of our annual Christmas Trees. Fast forward to 2015 and I am still fascinated how photographs can be manipulated & improved. I currently use Adobe Photoshop 5.1 with Adobe Camera Raw, Alien Skin 6.0, and Imagenomic Software. Most of my Photography has been done using my Canon 500D Crop Sensor. Now, I am enjoying my new Canon 6d Full Frame Camera upgrade and finding, in fact, it has many advantages over the older camera. The internet is a “Library of Congress” cornucopia of information, but seems nothing beats hands on trial & error. So that's what I do. I shoot, I process, I retry this and that, and I shoot again. I learn, I make mistakes, then try to do better. If my last photograph is not at least as good and hopefully better than the past ones... it usually gets trashed. I have not invested this much time & money & effort to do mediocre photography... I can do that with my Smart Phone – and I do a lot of that too... lol ! I currently photograph High School Senior Pixs for profit mostly, Landscapes for fun, and am experimenting with General Portraiture to further refine my style & technique... for fun and or profit.
