I offer here a headshot service for actors in the Orlando area.

Current headshot practice recommends the following for actors:

A HEADSHOT MAY LOOK LIKE A PORTRAIT, BUT IN REALITY IT IS A MARKETING TOOL TO GET YOU IN THE DOOR TO SELL YOUR LOOK AND ACTING CHOPS TO A CASTING DIRECTOR OR AGENT TO GET GIGS.

8X10 is standard size. Anything bigger or smaller will be discarded by a casting director or agent.

Your headshots need to LOOK like YOU on a REGULAR weekday! Do NOT wear makeup or style yourself in a fashion that would make you look too glamorous. With regards to looks, you DON'T want character shots. That means NO dressing like a cop, doctor, etc. NO PROPS EITHER.

It's important that your head and upper torso are clear so agents and casting directors can fairly judge you physically.

NEVER wear clothing with patterns that would distract from your face. When possible, wear the same or similar clothing in the photo that you would use at an interview. Why? When you walk in the door, give the casting director or agent a feeling that you’ve met before.

For commercial headshots, it's usually smiling and brighter colors. For theatrical (film/TV) it's usually a more serious/intense expression and muted colors. Of course there are exceptions to the rules.

You should ONLY have your name printed on the front below your photo.

You should have your resume (that has your email and CELL phone number printed on it) neatly cut to fit your 8X10 headshot and stapled to the back.

NO GLOSSY. Get matte or pearl finish (non glossy). Most indoor lighting tends to reflect off of glossies making it difficult for the agents and casting directors to see.

NOW, ABOUT THE SHOOT:

Shoots are by appointment only at 10am and 2pm. Contact me first at this email address: "[email protected]". Include "HEADSHOT" as the subject, your MM number and days you're available to shoot. After we schedule the day and time, I will give you directions to my place in Winter Park off Aloma between Lakemont and 436.

Your job is to prepare your look as if you were going for an interview and pretend that I am an agent or casting director. That should be easy…you are an actor…right?

I will ask to you pose in front of a backdrop and we’ll have fun as I direct your positions and expressions. How many shots? As many as are needed to get your looks just right.

We will then review the shots and select up to four for me to work on for the final images. I will create hi-res files in standard 8x10 headshot format with your name at the bottom for you to send or take to a printer of your choosing. There are many to select from the internet. I will also create smaller files for use on your website. The files will be ready one in business day.

WHAT’S THE COST FOR ALL THIS?

$89.95. I accept cash, money order, major credit card or PayPal. A personal check is OK, but the files will be sent after it clears. Payment is made after the images are selected when we shoot. I will then prepare the image files and email them to you.
