About Me

For collaborations: [email protected]

Born in Redwood City, California, James spent his early years living throughout the United States. Discovering a love of photography at the age of 12, he began documenting his family life with a Canon AE-1.

James matriculated university at 16, working for both the campus newspaper and yearbook. By 19, he was shooting for the Nashville Tennessean on a regular basis. James also covered assignments for UPI, the Associated Press, and other dailies such as the Los Angeles Times and USA Today, receiving awards and recognition for his work.

James is currently engaged in international projects in Spain and France as well as commissions in New York and Philadelphia. He is a Contributor to London-based LoopImages, a Contributor to Barcelona-based age fotostock, an Image Brief Artist, and an iStock Contributor. Select work is available for purchase from Zatista Gallery.

James is interested in working with models in a documentary style. Specifically, working on a set of images which will tell a complete story. If you have some ideas and are interested in working interactively to realize them, contact James!

If you're interested in understanding James' artistic approach, the following are great places to start:

And if you are a writer or journalist who wants to collaborate on larger projects, that would be ideal!

**Fashion photography is a collaborative effort. Getting paid for work is always a wonderful thing, but paychecks come from clients—not from photographers. Models bring their experience and skill, and likewise a photographer brings experience, skill, and (in James' case) the very significant costs of equipment and facilities. The goal is to work together to make images so that clients will pay *both* the model and the photographer.

Accordingly, unless you're representing a client, please do not contact us with offers that you'll model for pay. At best, the response would be that we will charge the exact same rate you do for us to do our work, and therefore we're back at the beginning.

Instead, think about ways that you'd like to work together to collaborate to make images where everyone gets a great product. That's the path to success all around!
