I’m a photographer, director and an animator based in Toronto and travels worldwide. It all began when I was in high-school. Like many I had no real clue as to what to do in life. I grew up with cartoons all my life and it was one day when I saw Reboot on TV that I knew, what I wanted to do. The visual look of the show was so different from anything out there at the time and I was awe struck. Then came Toy Story in 1995 and that sealed the deal.

I looked into schooling for animation and pursued my dreams of becoming an animator. After school I worked on various movies, commercials, games and tv shows. You can see a sample of my animation work at athavan.ca. The animation industry works by contracts and projects and it was in early 2008 after I finished working on The Incredible Hulk, with some time off that I began to pursue my passion for photography.

Photography has always been a passion and I have been taking pictures ever since I was a child. Growing up my family traveled all over the world and we always had a camera with us. That’s how I began taking pictures. I have done all kinds of photography and it’s the fashion and commercial world of photography that I am constantly drawn too. The things I learned from animation/film helped me in all aspects of photography and shaped the style of my work. Every image I capture, I strive to make sure it evokes an emotion. Photography helps me express my artistic/creative vision and allows me to share with the world what I see through the lens.
