Shannon Thompson began her make-up training years before she knew she was going to be a Make-up Artist. An aspiring actress and daughter of a funeral director, Shannon’s childhood chores included applying make- up for the deceased. Who would have thought child- hood chores would manifest themselves into a life-long career in the entertainment industry. Throughout her high school years, Shannon continued to hone her make-up skills, receiving her first paid job at the age of sixteen. Although she had a talent for make-up, her true passion was still on stage, as an actress.
Ms. Thompson continued her education at Howard University in Washington DC, to pursue the craft of Acting. Once she began her course study, she enrolled in the Stage Make-up class, taught by renowned Costumer Designer and Artist, Reggie Ray. During this class, the depth of make-up design as an art form, came to fruition. Although challenging, this class brought forth both another passion and clarity to the career path she would take. Once the course was completed, it was apparent that there was more to learn, Shannon and her professor began creating a curriculum that would prepare Shannon for working in the industry as a Make-up Artist. Shannon Thompson graduated from Howard University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, and a Make- up Certificate of Accreditation.
Ms. Thompson’s range of Make-up artistry spans from Beauty to Special Effects. Her excellence in the craft of Make-up Artistry includes being one of the youngest members of the Make-up Artist Union in 15 years. Shannon has worked on over 30 films;; 4 television shows;; countless music videos;; and national editorial work. She has had the opportunity to tour with celebrities such as: Alicia Keys, Boys II Men, Missy Elliot, and Keyshia Cole, to name a few. Shannon has provided make-up for President Barak Obama, Hillary Clinton, Former President Bill Clinton, Stevie Wonder, Ossie, Davis, Sharon Stone, Rza, Leah Thompson, Frankie Faison, KeKe Palmer, Black Thought (the roots), Patti Labelle, Romeo Miller, Jason Pasqual, and Phylicia Rashad, along with countless other actors in her career.
In 2008, Shannon Thompson was awarded the Make-up Artist of the Year Award, by Make-up Mentor. Her first published book “Make-Up is Just ...Colored Dirt,” was released nationwide in February 2014. Shannon’s up-beat, creative and colorful personality, accentuated by her warm and welcoming smile, allows her clients beauty and/or vision to shine through. Shannon Thompson is well known in the industry for clean, flawless beauty make-up and realistic special effect make up.
