About Me

There is much more work to see on my website. Come on over and follow my blog as I expound on all the things I wish someone had told me before I went to art school.

Coming from a lifelong background in drawing and painting, Cameron John Robbins is relatively new to sculpture. Although he has only been working in clay for the purpose of casting in metal since 2005, he has nonetheless already achieved an astonishing competence with the medium. “I have always been a figurative artist, and I’d always dabbled in hand building ceramics. But when I started working in oil clay to create bronze statues, I felt like a fish that had been put into water for the first time. It all just made sense to me. I thought, ‘why couldn’t I have found this stuff twenty years ago!?’”

“I’m inspired by the world around me every day, especially by people. From the subtlest gesture to the anomalous symmetry of form, I love the charming idiosyncrasies that make individuals unique. Through my work I seek to record and pay homage to these things, and the pursuit of that goal provides its own source of yet further inspiration. It is most often when I’m working that I’m inspired with the idea of what to do next. Funny how that works.”
