Born in Chicago and raised in Detroit Michigan, Tony Duwon was exposed to two cities with a rich history of music and the arts. As a child, Tony was fascinated by the artistry of legendary actors and comedians and would emulate their skits. His parents recognized this his gift for mimicry and his love of singing and set out to encourage and nurture his gifts.
Tony began his professional journey singing at open-mic show around Chicago which lead to an appearance on Showtime at Apollo! Tony’s focus soon changed, after a chance encounter with the founder and artist director of the Black Ensemble Theater (BET), Jackie Taylor, set Tony a new path. After meeting and auditioning for Ms. Taylor, Tony became an ensemble member of the BET and received a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for his portray of Little Richard is his time out! Several other productions would following including, My Heart is Crying, Crying – The Jackie Wilson Story; The Nat King Cole Story; and Dynamite Divas (which Tony won a Black Excellence Award for Best Actor).
Tony has been blessed with opportunities to perform and an actor, singer, and dancer on stages across the county and abroad as well as national commercials and feature films. He is excited about the future and looks forward to every day and every new opportunity.
