My name is Amie Scott, and I am a Canadian fashion designer and textile artist.

Originally based in Toronto, I moved to Oshawa Ontario in Winter 2014, where I opened The Labour District, a retail space with a sewing studio in partnership with my husband. In the retail space, we sell Canadian made clothing and accessories, as well as skateboards and accessories from independent companies. In the sewing studio, I create my line of casual women's wear, and I also create custom made garments for clients.

Since 2003, I have been selling my clothing line in various boutiques across North America, in such cities as Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Ottawa, San Diego and Los Angeles. As a self taught artist, I definitely took the road less travelled, but it's had a profound impact on how I approached pattern drafting and apparel construction, and I think that a more traditional educational route might not have reaped the same results.

From 2008 to 2011, I dabbled in avant garde costume design, which was displayed on the runway at FAT Toronto 2008, as well as several performance art stage events in both Toronto and Montreal, and a handful of burlesque shows in various Toronto locations. 

Currently, I gather inspiration from vintage fashion, and I enjoy creating apparel that combine a classic silhouette with bright modern prints.
