About Me

Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Jim moved to Vancouver, Washington chasing employment as a civil engineer in 2012. In 2013, he began a journey to realize his childhood dream of becoming a professional photographer. He received his behind the camera training while attending Clark College, graduating in 2016. Jim has had a lifelong passion for photography. He draws emotion, style, attitude, and beauty from his clients with his unique photographic styles.

Dedication to clients is very important to Jim and Loft Haven Photography. Jim shows interest in each client to find how best to bring out each client’s beauty. Jim believes that each session will produce at least one heirloom his clients and their future generations.

“Whether they believe it or not, every person that comes to me for a portrait session is beautiful. I have had clients cry when looking at the back of my camera at the images we have captured. I want every woman, every man, and every teenager, to experience that.” – Jim Estep

One day your children will look for photographs of you. What will they have? Portrait photography isn’t about the photographer. Nor does Jim believe it is about building a Facebook following or making a name for himself. The real goal is to take stunning portraits that people will look back on 20 years from now and say, “This is more priceless than anything we own.” That is what Jim is creating.

“You must celebrate your life. I don’t care how fat you think you are. I don’t care how old you think you are. My job as a portrait photographer is to take the most beautiful photograph you have ever seen of yourself so that you can cherish this for the rest of your life, so you see for yourself that you are beautiful.”

There is an importance of leaving a visual legacy behind for children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to enjoy. Jim’s goal is to encourage people to celebrate their lives, in the moment they are in right now.

“I want to stop acting like this life is a dress rehearsal, because it’s not.”
