At various times in my life, I have enjoyed modeling for photographer friends of mine, with the results...looking back on them now...being really very nice. I don't think I was very nice to my friends, though, since all I could say at the time was that there were things I didn't like about my appearance, etc. I could have at least given them credit for doing a lot with what they had to work with, probably. And yet, as I look at myself in those photos now, I wish I had let myself enjoy the shoots and the results more back then.

Again, looking back, I wish I had pursued modeling earlier and more frequently. But over the course of having my four children, there seemed so little time for so long. Now that my kids are all in school, though, I'm enjoying making up for lost time. In the past year, I started working as an assistant, then model, and am working toward becoming a photographer, training with Fall River Photo (MM#3712304). I really enjoy collaborating on concepts and creating interesting images. The process has also increased my self-esteem tremendously. I still whine a little about how certain parts of me look from certain angles, but I'm trying to get over that.

The kinds of shoots I've enjoyed most are on-location in the beautiful far-northern California mountains near my home. I'd love to hear ideas for additional shoots from those of you who are interesting in collaborating on something out of the ordinary. Overall, though, I really just want to see how much more creative (and even outrageous) I can be, and the folks on ModelMayhem seems like a great bunch with whom to do that.
