About Me

Hi,
im into analog film and from Malaysia. Passion about photograph. Every single shot means a lot to me. there's no second shot. only once..

I’m convinced film has dibs on a serious and unique beauty smartphones can’t touch.
When you shoot film and it turns out, you did something to make that happen. You turned a dial and guessed at light, and pulled a trigger and it worked. Why every Harry Potter fan doesn’t shoot film, I don’t know. It’s a small act of wizardry in itself—a sort of tangible magic. And it’s not perfect. I think that’s the most captivating thing about it.

We live in an age of instant gratification. Little effort. Everything is digital, clean, edited to perfection. Film does not accommodate our need-it-now mentality. It doesn’t entertain perfectionism. Film slams on the brakes and it yells authenticity. It is a pinch of grit and grain—a bit of life uncensored. There’s no chimping in film! You have to know how to nail the exposure, how the light is interacting with your subject, and how your camera will react to both before you press the shutter.

Because each frame costs money, you’ll be more diligent about clearing the frame of unwanted distractions. Film will also help you cut down on spraying and praying – where you were once shooting 10-15 images, you’ll find yourself taking just one or two frames. Pressing the shutter less often also saves time when culling images later. Fewer frames, fewer decisions...more time with family!

Finally, when you shoot enough with one film at one ISO, you learn the exposures necessary to handle different lighting situations. Film makes your exposures like clockwork, if you shoot it enough – so you can concentrate on your subject. Not your camera settings.

So why shoot film? It’s a fresh breath.
Film is just the medium. I don’t care so much about the medium (although I do love the look of film) - it’s the process that interests me. Film forces you to work different “photographic muscles” much harder than when shooting digital.
