About Me

Born in Belgium and growing up in Europe my fascination for fashion and Europe's breathtaking architectural buildings pursued my love for capturing everything artistic, aesthetics, and out of the ordinary. I started photography when I was 15 after my dad surprised me with a professional camera. I didn't hesitate. I clicked away. First I started with nature and landscape photography. Everyone was blown away by my talent, especially considering my young age.
I moved to America in 1990 to Study English and Literature. During my time in Miami, Florida I didn't abandon my love for photography. I shot images of the Miami scene. Again, people were in awe of my talent for angles and lighting.
After becoming a mother of two, they were my main subjects. Two little models! I taught them to relax and have fun in front of the camera. I still photograph them both to this day. Especially my oldest since she is now a professional model.
At the moment I'm focusing on fashion photography and helping models get a jump start in the fashion industry. I'm also a creative director. I love working with fresh faces and I always love their input. Give a theme and I'll create a shoot you will LOVE!
I grew up during the Polaroid times (Remember how they laughed at Andy Warhol's Polaroid photography?) and owned cameras Canon, Olympus, Sony... and to tell you the truth not all of them were worth all that money. I know about angles, how to make pictures look like it's from any decade with... guess what? A 'simple' Samsung Galaxy s6 camera. The naysayers won't believe me or will laugh. If you truly are a good photographer you actually don't need all those bells and whistles. My best compliment came from a traditionally equipped photographer after I uploaded a picture of a fashion show was when he asked me, "What lens did you use? Just amazing picture!"
He was dumbfounded when I mentioned Samsung.
I require little to no editing on my pictures which makes me an even better photographer. What's the use of spending tons of money on some professional camera when you have to edit the heck out of it? It just looks so artificial and amateur. That's not a good photographer to me. I think for the most part owning an expensive camera is like a placebo effect whereas photographers are so used to tradition and can't think outside of the box. It simply gives the illusion to the client that if you own an expensive camera you must be great. This is definitely a myth many customers fall for.

If you take a look at my portfolio, you will see amazing images which (surprise) are almost all taken with a Samsung Galaxy S6. Only 2 are taken with a 'professional' camera. Guess which ones?
I think photographer Annie Leibovitz said it best only 2 years ago when she stated, "Smartphones are the cameras of today."
The best photographers can work with any camera as long as they capture something extraordinary. Just call me the photographer with the smartphone. I'm not ashamed of it.
