About Me

In the early 80’s I purchased my first 35mm film camera and decided to take a photography course. After going through hundreds of rolls of film and lots of developing I felt that it was too expensive to hone my skills as a photographer.

In 1990 I started shooting digital to take pictures of products for the family business. I was using one of the first consumer released cameras the Dycam which was black and white. Every year I was upgrading my digital camera to the latest technology and improving my skills.

In 1999 Nikon released one of the first DSLR’s (digital single lens reflex) the D1. It was a professional 2.7 mega pixel camera that was built like a tank. That camera allowed me to practice my skills. Although I took a lot of pictures I still did not consider myself a photographer because to me the word photographer meant light artist or someone who manipulated light.

In 2005 I went back to school and took training as a Thermographer (someone who captures images of heat using a special infrared camera). It was during my work as a thermographer that made me look at photography in a different light (no pun intended). I was taking pictures of things you could not see with the naked eye. It was at that point that I discovered that the light was the single most important element in shooting the photo.

I now focus my camera primarily on product and portrait photography.
