About Me

My inspiration for drawing primarily comes from the Appalachian mountains and the neolithic ancient sites of Ireland and the British Isles (Stone Circles, barrows, Roman antiquity, Celtic culture). Currently I'm working on a number of drawings with content such as stone circles, Celtic "dryads" or tree spirits, patterns of insect chewed leaves, portraits and figure studies, and other images related to the Appalachian mountains and Celtic culture.

In the past I drawn figure models in classes and studios, but now I use photography to shoot images for art and drawing reference. I exclusively shoot images in outdoor settings such as mountains, streams, forests, natural shrubbery, and balds and meadows. I view shooting outdoors as a kind of "glorified studio" as the first step in creating my art :-)

I also take pictures in neolithic sites such as standing stones, stone circles, barrows, hill forts and other ancient sites in Europe.

I intend to keep on exploring new artistic concepts and I'm hoping I can engage in creative "symbiosis" with other models, artists, and photographers.

My background:

BFA (Fine Arts) primarily in drawing and printmaking, and some painting.
BA (History) Focused on Renaissance, Reformation, Art History, Medieval Europe
MS (Geography and Cartography)
