About Me

I began shooting with a film SLR more than 30 years ago but never did photography professionally. Joining camera clubs and attending workshops, I learned to use my camera to achieve the image that I wanted. The process was tedious and expensive at times in the age of film but was still rewarding.

My interest in photography took a back seat for more than 10 years while I pursued a career in the health professions. Having finished my course and several training programs, I was introduced to the world of digital photography and bought my first DSLR, a Canon 400D. I was delighted to learn that the basic principles of photography remained but now with the added flexibility of new features built in to the new DSLRs. It was also less expensive to shoot, test, apply techniques and consequently learn the new cameras capabilities. I also took time to attend workshops in post-processing (mainly photoshop), something which I learned increased our ability to control the output of the camera, achieving the desired image in the final product.
While photography remains a hobby for me, it affords me the opportunity to meet new people and learn from their perspectives. The past 10 years that I have been shooting, I've had the pleasure and honor of working with many models, makeup artists, stylists and fellow photographers. I've also learned to work with these same artists individually and through agencies and agents. Throughout my journey in photography, I've sought to behave professionally and treat my fellow photographers, models, stylists and makeup artists with the respect and fairness they deserve.
While I have nothing against TFCD arrangements, I prefer to organize my shoots in such a way that all models, makeup artists and stylists are financially compensated fairly or according to the modelling agency rate. I do recognize that all artists need to support themselves and sometimes also a family through their work.
I look forward to the opportunity to meet even more new artists in modelmayhem and perhaps work with them. I do not claim that my images are the best among the fantastic images produced by fellow photographers and artists but they are my own, and I take a measure of pride in the work that goes into producing each one.
