Young, black and skinny were just a few words  used by society and peers to describe who they saw me as, while maturing into a young black woman. Growing up in a town with less than 20% African Americans, I was always considered the exception. "Pretty, for a black girl".

I no longer wanted to be an exception, I wanted to be the difference that set change and inspired other young women and men to exceed their potential.

In doing so, I went to a 4 year HBCU and graduated with a B.S. and a concentration in Apparel Design and Textiles.

I recycled the knowledge taught by my professors and used it to become a freelance model. With in months I was signed to a prominent boutique and became the first African American to be a featured model for Vert and Vogue.

The struggles of being a woman of color trying to make it in the business of modeling is just that.... BUSINESS!

However, bringing diversity to a brand that's commonly known to work with caucasians  is not only something to be proud of, but something worth noticing.

I'm not just trying to be successful, I'm trying to make a statement for all the other young beautiful black women out there destined to be something great!
