About Me

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I am a part time photographer based in north Nottinghamshire but can travel for the right shots (and work may well take me to other areas across the Midlands or exceptionally outside this).

Published work to date:

* Osprey Weapons Series: SA80 by Neil Grant

* Inserting an I-Gel: St John Ambulance training presentation

* Advertising campaign for Derbyshire Army Cadet Force January-February 2017

* Derbyshire Times - Army Cadet Volunteering article (http://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/news/volunteer-gains-skills-with-army-cadet-force-1-8332706)

I tend to specialise in odd shots (see below to see what I mean!) and have a wide range of props to support the eccentric nature of many of them. I specialise in fantasy and modern military shots and often incorporate ideas from role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons (yes I am a geek!).

On shoots I can provide a home studio with assorted backdrops (all you need to provide is space, a power socket and ideally plenty of cups of tea!). Alternatively I am more than happy with location shoots (and can sometimes help transport you depending on locations). When shooting I am quite happy to incorporate your ideas and suggestions and would encourage you to contribute.

If you are considering a shoot but are nervous please feel free to contact any of the models who have left me a reference below. I am also Enhanced DBS checked due to my work and other hobbies. I fully understand worries and I am quite happy to discuss them (one of the courses I train in the day job is Personal Safety and Lone Worker Training). I am quite happy for you to bring a chaperone along if you are nervous but would ask that they do not interfere with the shoot. I may however enlist their help as mobile reflector stand, etc if they are willing! If dealing with a model who is (or looks) under 21 I would ask that you please bring ID that shows your date of birth.

When communicating I prefer to use Purple Port as that way there is a record in case of disputes plus it encourages safer practices by being recorded. I will provide my mobile details before the day of the shoot for last minute dot com issues. I would appreciate (but do not require) the same.

After a TF shoot I will provide you a set of all the reasonable pics watermarked discretely with the words "© James560492" This will usually be done through methods such as Facebook or (preferably) Dropbox but we can discuss this prior to the shoot. These may not be used without specific permission but can be freely used on modelling sites and social media as long as the watermark is visible. I will usually publish a selection of the shots on Purple Port and may also use them on other modelling sites or social media. Models should assume that this will happen unless we agree beforehand.

I am open to a wide range of ideas so feel free to suggest any ideas you have, no matter how outlandish. Some of the ideas I am considering are:

* waterfall shoot

* Dungeons and Dragons themed group shoot

* body paint based shoot

* more mid 1990 military costumed shoots - this is currently my big project with the pictures used to illustrate articles I write

* Shoots based around military use of the horse

* random ideas that occur to me!

For more information about my photography then please have a look at the following interview conducted by Ian Guffogg :

Look forward to hearing from you and hopefully working with you soon.
