About Me

Follow me and my work @cicithebarber on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

I’m a proud south side Chicago native (White Sox Fan) and a licensed barber with over two year’s worth of behind-the-chair haircut, straight razor work, and shave experience. I’m well acquainted with all hair types and textures. I can achieve a mean men’s cut and shave right alongside the best of them, but I prefer working on short hair looks that push gender norms.

I’ve honed my talents in traditional neighborhood barbershops and salons as well as corporate salon chains. I've also expanded upon my existing experience by investing in continuing education courses for the cutting and styling of natural Black hair, curly textures, and learning Vidal Sassoon cutting methods. It’s via this extensive training that I got the hands-on experience with the styling, tools, and techniques that I now use to help guests achieve and maintain their most flattering, healthy, hair and beard shapes as a full-time barber.

As someone who has experienced and been affected by homelessness throughout my teens and twenties, I’ve also become involved in volunteer efforts for the impoverished, homeless, and LGBTQIA+ communities of Chicago. I give free haircuts to youth every week at Center on Halsted and once a month at TPAN Chicago. These haircuts often provide a confidence boost for things like house hunting, job interviews, new I.D. photos, a new personal identity, and a makeover for the occasional birthday.

I’m also currently learning American Sign Language through online classes.

My inspirations include fine art, music, fashion, and avant-garde makeup.
