About Me

Aaron Jackson Cover Letter
Hello! My name is Aaron Jackson, and I am a 23 year old student-athlete on his was to collegiate retirement. I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio where I also attended high school at Gahanna Lincoln High School. While growing up in Columbus I was able to experience a passionate basketball community that has not stopped growing since I began playing the game 17 years ago. In high school I was blessed beyond measures to have participated in a winning program on its way to being one of the biggest basketball powerhouses in the state, producing Division I basketball players year in and year out. In my four years at Gahanna Lincoln I was able to win two district champion ships and play in two regional finals, unfortunately coming up short of making it to states and served as a team captain for two years. Each year as I matured winning got more and more important to me and I was willing to re-focus my role of being the offensive minded selfish player I once was to transitioning into one of the most versatile players in Central Ohio to increase our chances of winning, and it worked. In the summers leading up to college, I also played AAU basketball where I took the winning approach from the high school season into the AAU season played in the spring and summer. In four years I was blessed to play for three elite programs, All-Ohio Red, Ohio Varsity and finished with King James on the EYBL circuit. While we didn’t do so well on the circuit, before my last year of AAU in four years I was able to finish 7th and 3rd in two AAU National Championships. Between high school basketball and AAU, a winning culture was starting to be one of my best attributes and I was blessed to have received more than two-dozen offers to play college basketball for free. Out of these offers, I decided to continue my academic and athletic career at The University of Akron where I played for an elite coach, Keith Dambrot. In my four years at UA I was able to win a pair of championships while playing at the highest mid-major level. Since I took my redshirt year, I was granted a fifth year of eligibility. After the departure of Keith Dambrot at The University of Akron I decided that it was time for me to finally experience life out of Ohio so I decided to transfer after graduating with my Bachelors Degree in Sport Management and a minor in Sales Marketing. While in the process I was recruited to play my last year at East Carolina University in the American Athletic Conference where I am current enrolled in the online Adult Education Masters’ Program. I am transitioning out of college with a great opportunity to play professional basketball next year, but I would love to work this summer to build my resume and gain great experience so I am ready for life after basketball. The ball doesn’t bounce forever!
