Kaycie Baker has always had a passion for styling hair. Her skills surfaced at a young age as her mother and sister readily offered their heads to her enthusiastic hands. At 15, her natural talent was recognized by Gene Juarez Hair Academy, where she obtained her cosmetology license. Shortly after, at only 16 she went on to apprentice at Belltown’s Etherea Salon & Spa, then became a stylist at Salon Modello, where she spent two years furthering her education and experience with cuts, color, and styling. At 19, she opened Kaycie’s Hair Lounge, an in-house salon run from her West Seattle home. After about four years of running a successful in-home business she decided to take a year for travel, a change of scenery and a bit of soul-searching.

Kaycie found that her love of hairstyling was equal to that of fashion and the complete look. With all elements in her control, she produces a finished product more than worthy of admiration.

“There are different types of hairstylists. The salon-girl makes art through the daily hairstyle. The hair artist sees shapes, sees something more. To me, it’s not just about cuts and color. It’s about the style. It’s about art.”

Since her return to Seattle in late 2010, Kaycie has been diligently building her client base with a fresh perspective on the collision of hair and style; a perspective that has landed her stylist work for reputable publications such as DList Magazine, Life After Denim, and Orlando Style.

Kaycie is happy to be back home, lives downtown Seattle with her pit bull, Karlie, and is currently building her portfolio with the west coast’s best photographers, doing look books for designers, fashion shows and spreads for listed publications. Her dream is to eventually become an in-house stylist for a major brand or publication.
