I am just starting out in photography and am in the process of building a portfolio. I have a real passion for portrait photography and have gained some experience in styling photoshoots to complement and enhance the skill level and experience of the model I am working with. So far I have worked with girls with a range of experience from newbie models through to 2018 Miss Universe NZ contestant. Composing the perfect portrait photograph is like capturing the extraordinary in the ordinary. It is usually a moment in time often only ever seen fleetingly. It is my pleasure to capture those ‘moments’ where everything lines up – relaxed facial features, the head tilted just so and the connection of the eyes with the camera; this is the art of Portrait Photography that I love so much!
My passion is in portfolio photoshoots for models of all ages who are wanting a set of images that really showcase their natural beauty. To achieve the best possible results I work in with Brie of Brie Julie Artistry, a professional makeup artist, to ensure the makeup is camera ready with lots of highlights included that really enhance the beauty of each shot.
I like to spend a little time with a client before a shoot so being there with them while Brie applies their makeup and just chatting helps us all to feel relaxed around each other and let our guards down. It also gives me some insight into who they really are, I take note of their particular personality quirks and strengths and start to build a plan in my mind of how to pose them to achieve the best possible photographs. Most of the girls I have worked with so far have never done a photoshoot before, they are nervous and lack confidence to begin with but it usually only takes 5 minutes or so and they have relaxed enough to actually have some fun! And that’s what it is all about, fun! I have fun doing this, it is the best job ever to work with someone to get over their fears of ever even looking good in one photograph let alone a whole shoot full of stunning shots of themselves looking gorgeous! I’m all about growing the confidence of women of all ages and helping them to capture in print the true beauty that is inside of us all.
