I am a portrait photographer turned author who writes mostly Science Fiction Romance about diverse characters. When looking for cover models, I noticed that most of the stock photos available were white people and the few black or Asian models were either overused in the market or photographed like caricatures. So I decided to return to my portrait photography roots to find diverse models for my work. I think it's important to show that black people are allowed to have emotions outside Happy Black Woman and Dangerous Black Man and that East Asian men and women can be strong instead of goofy or over-sexualized. I want to do my part to help change perceptions and stereotypes... at least in the world of fiction.
