About Me

I truly love photography. What amazes me most about it is seeing the creative ideas that come forth out of people who love it as well...to me there's almost no greater thrill. I am what you would consider a semi-professional photographer. i have sold a number of my nature and sports prints and am looking to expand into modeling and portrait photography.

I pursue photography as an artistic outlet. I come from a family of artists, most of us quite accomplished. Ten years ago I went from 70 to 0 mph too quickly one night and ended up going into 18 hours surgery with a less than even chance of waking up with either of my hands. Thanks to a wonderfully gifted team of surgeons who worked in shifts, my hands were saved. However, it took a year for me to learn how to use them again. I was left with the need to create beauty but without the fine motor skills to use a brush or pen....so now my medium is light and I bless the series of events that brought me to this form of artistic expression.

Photography is about chronicling life…all of it. One thing I have learned is that, well done, the camera makes almost everything beautiful…even the things which we might not find beautiful otherwise.

There is an elusive element that makes the difference between a snapshot and a photograph. It is where all of the elements of the picture combine to tell a story. It is called The Decisive Moment. It can be as drammatic as a tight end stretched over the goal line with the ball at his fingertips while the scoreboard behind shows the seconds ticked off on a tie score...or it could be that same tight end, alone and weeping on the end of the bench.

A decisive moment can tell the story that the artist which created it wants to tell or it can prompt individual stories within the minds of its viewers. It is that photograph which makes you want to linger on it a bit longer and marvel at the beauty in the lines and composition. To appreciate the depth of color or the drama of the shadow. To wonder how that kind of beauty can exist in a photograph when it is so rarely seen in the outside world.

That is the kind of work I want to produce. If you want to do the same, please contact me.
