1. goddess; 2. prima dona. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the only thing missing from the definition of a diva is a picture of Diva Victoria. Exemplifying the name given to her at birth, watching Diva on the runway is like being captivated by Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. Just as Aphrodite was sought after by many, so is the persona of Ms. Diva Victoria as her very presence serves as an aphrodisiac to many, causing all heads to turn and eyes on her as she brings life to the very designs lucky enough to grace her body as she models them on the runway and in print. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Diva developed a captivating sense of southern hospitality and the essence of being a lady. She understood the influence of coyness – a shy smile with the bat of her eyes; the power in a confident walk - head up, back straight and a little swing in the hips; combining these with her exuberant personality Diva Victoria is destined to be someone who will garner a world full of attention. Diva and her mother moved to the “melting pot” of the world, New York City, where Diva was introduced to many different cultures and lifestyles that led to her wonderful sense of fashion. “When we moved to New York, I was able to experience so many different types of cultures while living in Manhattan and Brooklyn which are like two different worlds in one city,” states Diva Victoria. “I tasted a lot, referring to different styles and fashions found there and have created my own style from the influences of the world of New York City.” The ability to adapt to any environment is what sets Diva Victoria apart. As a model, she’s a chameleon, able to transform herself into whatever the look requires and make everyone watching believe that she lives in that world. She allows her alter ego, Victoria to take over and translate her into that world of fashion and style. “My alter ego’s name is Victoria,” giggles Diva. “Victoria sounds exotic, mysterious to me and since I was born with a name that everyone wants, I came up with something for just for me.” From the very beginning, Diva always had a unique look about her. While working as a waitress in Denny’s, the coordinator of two very popular fashion shows happened to be seated at one of her tables; taking notice to her unique look he asked if she had ever thought of modeling. Her answer of course was yes and the rest is history. “I was wearing a platinum blond wig and platforms when he told me he loved my style,” laughs Diva. “He gave me his number and told me to call him first thing in the morning. I did and the next thing I knew, I was at rehearsal preparing for a fashion show that took place in front of hundreds of people.” “My grandmother wanted to model and she’s my inspiration,” shares Diva. “There’s this one picture of her that is so beautiful, but it’s the only picture I have of her actually modeling. I want to go farther than my grandmother, I want to know what comes after that picture.” Going further is exactly what Diva Victoria has done as she has modeled for the Black Designers Association, BET, and Fashion First Photo Shoot and has been featured in German Vogue,4Front magazine and pleanty more.Diva Victoria resides in New York, New York.
