About Me

I have been so lucky to have met so many amazing people and shot for so many fantastic magazines & clients. There is no way I would have had my career if it were not for the talented team of numerous photo assistants, stylists, hair and makeup, editors, prop stylists and most of all the generous photo editors who hired me.

Glamour, Domino, In Style, Marie Claire, Martha Stuart, Real Simple, Allure, Getty Images, Pottery Barn, Land' End, The New York Times and The Washington Post among others have sent me to Jaipur India, a jail outside Baton Rouge Louisiana, the countryside of Saigon Vietnam, The White House, Saint Barts, Parrot Cay in the British West Indies, Stockholm Sweden, Hawaii, Alaska and so many more amazing locations.

I started my career in New York city in 1988. My first break came from shooting for Elle magazine. The Fashion Director, Jane Chang, gave me a monthly section called Great Style. I found cool things and taught myself how to photograph them with a rented Hasselblad back in my apartment on Broome Street before the area was called Nolita. I was sent on a few shoots of Gilles Bensimon to see how he built a set and lit the model. While shooting for Elle I was able to rent my own studio in Manhatten. I shot still lives for other magazines like Allure and Marie Claire. Fashion editor & stylist Polly Mellen would come to my studio on 29thst Street between 7th and 8th Avenues to shoot her Fashion Police section. It was amazing to work with her. She was a tough broad and I was excited and scarred every time she came in my studio. I really wanted to shoot more people and Donald Robertson launched YM magazine with Bonnie Fuller gave me my first real break. Donald and Bonnie then launched Marie Claire magazine and then brought me along to Cosmopolitan magazine when Bonnie took over for Helen Gurley Brown stepped down. The successful team which was now nicknamed "Bonald" took over Glamour magazine and they kept me busy for years shooting portraits, fashion, beauty and lifestyle. I got to work with amazing people like Bobbie Brown, Laura Mercier, Frederic Fekkai, Garen, Sally Hershberger, just to name a few. In 2002 I moved to the Hollywood Hills and set up a studio on Vine Street in Hollywood right across the street from the Capitol Records building.

I spent the next eight years based in Los Angeles which were some of the best times of my life. I got to work with and hang out with so many talented & creative people.

Love brought me back to where I grew up, just outside Washington D.C. I reconnected with the guy I fell in love with at 15 years old. Work has slowed down a bit now that I'm not in LA or NY, but I still love shooting. Please contact me if you want to collaborate!
