I've been taking photos and working with video since 1999.
There is much I could say about the work I have done which for me is more like fun than it is work. I have photographed weddings,parties and countless events. Some of my favorite work has been doing headshots and high school senior photos. This is not a get rich niche for me as you will find I under cut everyone else within a 100 mile radious. I'm not here to charge you outrageous amounts of money in this economy. Besides who can afford to pay over a thousand dollars to have a wedding album done. I do not work out of a studio at the moment so there are no outrageous over head costs to cover.
I do not spend countless hours retouching photos because for me the art is in the taking of pictures not what I can do with them after they are taken.
As I was help to film a concert yesterday evening 12/12/12 I heard some people talking that were sitting behind me during intermission. Two women were discussing the fact that they are now photographers and how they never ever thought that is what they would end up doing. I had to laugh to myself and walk away. One of them went on to tell the other woman about all the cameras she had purchased. It appeared every time she bought a camera she spent more and more money on the next one and so on.
It is not about how many cameras you own or even how much they cost and how many more options this one has then one does. It is about talent. You either have an eye for what is art or you are simply pointing and shooting which makes you a photographer not.
She bought this light and that light and took a picture of this product and that product. Correct me if I am wrong but taking a photo of a jar of mayonaise or a peach is quite different than working with people. You have to know how to connect with people and not talk about yourself after all it is all about the person you are photographing. At least that is the way I see it to be. In any case I do what I do and I know I have the natural eye for what I do whether I am taking photos or shooting video.
