About Me

Thank you for visiting my site, if you are going to work with me you will find my site helpful to make the process easier and more organized. I don't intend to lay out a sales pitch to say how good I am, rather to make any project undertaking as easy as possible to save us both time and get the most from the opportunity.

There are allot of photographers out there and it is very competitive so you have a great variety to choose form, however finding the right one for you requires some homework. So if you keep reading you will get to know me and what I am all about......

Your first time shoot

Being photographed for the first time can be intimidating and make you nervous, it is quite natural to feel this way. When you do your shoot with me I will make it as relaxed and easy going as possible.
The worst thing that can happen is we waste a few digital pictures. It may start out that way and as we progress you will loosen up and relax. I am always relaxed during shoots and I think this makes it easier for models to relate to me.

Posing can be quite difficult if you have not done it before, I have found some first time models to have the same facial expression throughout the shoot and not showing any emotion. I will provide you with some guidance and a few positions that we can work and improvise on. We don't have to take it too seriously. Many unposed shots turn out to be some of the best.
You are free to bring any reference material like magazine snippets that we can work on. Do some preparation beforehand, look at pictures and study them, practice poses in a mirror. Some of the best reference guides for posing are fashion catalogs and magazines. Study it, pay close attention to the position of hands, the different angles the body makes (including the tilt of the head, arms, torso, thighs, and legs) and facial expressions.
As I do most of my shoots on location (public places) it will most likely be in broad daylight. Get enough rest the night before to prevent squinting in bright daylight.

What to expect

As the photographer I will work with you to achieve the best results while having an enjoyable shoot in a relaxed and comfortable environment and also provide you with quality photographs. During the shoot we will try your suggestions and I will give feedback to the photo result. While I may suggest different ideas during the shoot I will never pressure you into something that you are not comfortable with, after all it is all about you.

My style

As we are on location I use the back grounds for its colors and shapes rather than recognizing the actual location, unless the project intends to reveal it as a theme. I always shoot with flash even in bright day light as the balance of ambient and flash will create the exposure end result.

How long will the shoot take

The shoot lasts between 2 and 4 hours. Good preparation and planning can provide us with more variety of shots in less time. The duration also depends on the number of wardrobe changes, make up changes and the specific goal of the project.

I like to start early (start shooting between 7:30 and 8 am) to avoid people in the back ground, make use of good lighting conditions, get a good parking space and less likely to be windy.

Make up artists

Models who are skilled to do their own make up are welcome to do so, however it can be a big advantage to have a make up artist working with you. It can substantially accentuate your features and soften skin tones. My photographs are extremely clear and will show flaws in skin that cannot always be corrected in post processing.
It is the responsibility of the model to arrange or hire a make up artist.

Photo shoot escorts

I always need an assistant to help with the shoot, mainly hold lighting equipment and reflectors. I can provide one at an extra cost to the model. I prefer models to bring an assistant as it may be more comforting for them to have someone present that they know.
If you are under 18 you have to bring a parent or guardian.

Your wardrobe

You can bring anything you wish to have photographed but I recommend solid colors and no distracting stripes, dots or prints as this can be distracting to the viewer, unless it is intended for the project. If you plan to do an all purpose shoot and wish to get a variety of shots, bring as many outfits as you want and we will try to fit them into the shoot. You can bring props like hats, sunglasses, umbrellas, etc. It is the responsibility of the model to provide all wardrobe and props, unless supplied by the client.

After the shoot

After the shoot, most likely the same day, I will email some of the photos in low resolution as I know you are dying to see some of what we did. I will sort through all the photos and compile a CD containing high resolution images that I will mail out to you (after payment received), usually within 2 business days. However I reserve the right to do this within two weeks. I do some minor post processing to some images if needed and may make some black and white as well.
If I wish to use some of your photos for self promotion and you are happy with that, I will ask you to sign a model release.

Cost

I will do some TFCD work for selected models but paid work my rates are:
~2 hours AU$150
~3 hours AU$200
~4 hours AU$250

The cost includes all post processing, creation of your photos onto CD and time used to communicate with you. The CD will include all my selected high resolution .JPG files, the quantity will depend on how much time was spent shooting vs. wardrobe and make up changes, so it is vital that you plan and use the shoot time effectively. Usually between 60 and 200 images. During the shoot you can do any number of wardrobe/style changes.
