About Me

Ta-Nia The Angel was born and raised straight out of Bed Stuy, Brooklyn N.Y.  Ta-Nia started rhyming at the age of 15. Inspired by watching the great females of hip hop make their mark in history, she vowed to leave an imprint just as MC Lyte, Queen Latifah and Yo-Yo had. What began as a hobby soon became a dream as Ta-Nia grew more passionate with rhyming, thus starting her journey. Ta-Nia moved from Brooklyn, to Baltimore Maryland at the age of 18 and began searching for outlets that would let her express her new talent. She met a group from Michigan and soon after became a member.
While with the group Ta-Nia performed at venues such as the Nu Biz Entertainment Company and many other venues across Maryland. Shortly after they were offered a deal from Sony records, but Ta-Nia declined. She did not feel that was the right path for her career. Ta-Nia separated from the group and began promoting herself as a solo act.
Ta-Nia started recording with her cousin and friend Buddy Wike from the R&B group “Intro”. Ta-Nia and Buddy recorded a 10-track album and started performing at open mic showcases.  Ta-Nia’s first open mic showcase was at the Soul Café in New York City. After commuting back and forth from Baltimore to New York, Ta-Nia realized she made more progress with her career goals in New York and decided to relocate back to Brooklyn.
Ta-Nia’s return to New York was a new beginning. While hitting the open mic venues heavy, Ta-Nia was introduced to D.J. Nu, who then in turn introduced her to the mixtape market. Ta-Nia has appeared on various mixtapes including Outfit, Brooklyn’s Hooks Vol1., D.J. Nu’s I95, The Senator, and The Best of BBG. Ta-Nia also earned features on numerous DVD Magazines, including: Uncut Raw TV, Set it Off, Warrior Music, Street Cypha Magazine and many more.
Ta-Nia’s underground hype caused other rappers to take notice to her lyrical skill. She started doing collaborations with numerous artists, including long time friend Babs from MTV’s Making the Band. Babs joined Ta-Nia on some of her performances including The Greek Fest, Skate Key, Don Hills, and The Pyramid Club to name a few.
In summer of 2007 Ta-Nia teamed up with Bang Em’ Hard Ent. and Kryotek Industries to shoot her debut video “JUMP” off of the mixtape entitled “Hell’s Angel”, directed by Gurber Mathews.  The video was an instant hit on myspace.com, youtube.com and kryotektv.blip.tv.
